Did you know that the McCreary house was once the scene of festive parties?

An article from 1909 stated:  “The beautiful home of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. McCreary, on Durant avenue, was the scene Thursday evening of a most enjoyable affair.  A score of guests shared the hospitality of the host and hostess, and cards, music and dancing made the evening very delightful.  The “five-hundred” tables entertained the guests during the early hours of the evening, and later dancing was enjoyed in the spacious ballroom.  Supper concluded the evening’s pleasure.  Palms, ferns and flowers added to be [sic] charming setting of the affair.  The guests were Mr. and Mrs. Chas D. Willis, Mr. and Mrs P. E. Bowles, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Avila, Mr. and Mrs. Charles V. Jenkins, Mr. and Mr. B.E. Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. McIntosh of Tonopah, Dr. and Mrs. Sherrell W. Hall, Miss Rogers, Miss Miller, Dr. McIntosh, C.A. Chase and H.W. Woodsum.”
